Various September 2012

Some pictures from September 2012.

The kids helped me bake cookies one Sunday afternoon. They're pretty good helpers in the kitchen!!

Yum.  They loved the cookie dough!

John's company had a family friendly picnic at Southfork Ranch.  It was a beautiful day, and the kids had a blast bouncing, playing with bubbles, and eating all kinds of sugary goodness.  John snapped a few pics with his phone.

Tyler was covered in bubbles before we left... you can see why below.

He had lots of fun in the toddler inflatables.

John and Carly had some fun taking silly pictures!  Too funny.

First Day of School for Carly!

August 27, 2012.  Carly's first day of kindergarten!  She was SO excited and SO ready to start her new school.  Over the last 6 months, we had driven by her school several times.  We met her teacher, Mrs. Stewart, on Friday.  Carly got to see her classroom, as well as art, music, PE, library, and the computer lab.  She was super excited about her new backpack and lunchbox.  Overall, she was excited!

Her first day went great!  John and I walked her to the classroom (Carly led the way).  She walked right in, found a seat, and started coloring!  No tears, no anxiety.  I was so proud of her.  I even held it together.  It was much harder dropping her off in the carpool lane the next day.  I cried watching my sweet baby girl walking confidently into the school.  When did she get so big!?!?

A few pictures from the first day!!  Nannie bought her a cute new outfit to wear.  My girl loves her skirts and dresses!

Little brother had to say "cheese"!

I love that her empty backpack looks gigantic on her!

Here's her classroom!

Arkansas in August

The kids and I made a trip to Arkansas in August to visit Nannie and Pop as well as other family.  We were lucky to be in Arkansas at the same time as my cousin and her girls!

Stuttgart pictures below.  The kids love the freedom in Stuttgart - playing in the street between Meemaw and Aunt Kay's house!

The girls had fun reading together.

We also went to Nannie and Pop's splash park.  I honestly was skeptical about this splash park.  There's no water features coming out of the ground like in our splash park, so I thought the kids wouldn't like it.  Boy was I wrong!  They had a blast playing in the water.  Tyler eventually decided to explore the rest of the park, including the slide and playground features.  It was a ton of fun!

Love the rainbow in this shot!

Carrollton Splash Park

I took the kids to the Carrollton splash park on Monday.  They filled in/tore up the older city swimming pool (where we took swimming lessons just 2 years ago) and built a splash pad instead.  I'm not sure it was a wise move to remove the pool, but the splash pad is pretty awesome!  Both the kids loved it!  We will most certainly go again before the summer is over!

Summer (11), Alyssa (almost 9), and Amber (9)

We had a great weekend with family!

July videos

Here are a couple of videos of the kids from July The first is both of them giggling. Love those giggles!

This second video is all Tyler.  He talks a lot now, and I've captured some his talking (filmed July 27 when he was 1 year, 10 months old).  This may be my favorite video of him!

Tyler in his suit

John bought Tyler a cute suit to wear at a family wedding in Arkansas. Unfortunately the suit didn't make it into the car for the trip to Little Rock, but he wore it to church one Sunday instead. He looks pretty cute all dressed up! His favorite part was the shoes. They made a great, loud noise when he stomped all the way up and down the aisles at church that morning. The congregation loved it!

Carly is 5!!!

Our little girl is 5 years old, and she is so excited! We had a Hello Kitty pool party for her at our house. Her best friend from school, Addison, came, and so did her friend from down the street. Nannie and Pop, the Fikar family, and the Real family celebrated with us too! It was a fun day!

The most exciting part of being 5 is Carly will be going to kindergarten in the fall! She could not wait to turn 5 for that reason alone! This girl is ready for real school. I hope she loves it!!
Addison and Carly
The Hello Kitty cake from Kroger was way cuter than I expected, and tasty as usual!

My pretty girl!

Audrey, Carly, and Addison

We celebrated on her actual birthday with cupcakes at her school with her friends, then dinner at ChickFilA.

At five years old, Carly loves to talk, play dress up, color, and swim swim swim!  She is 43 pounds and 43 inches tall (a perfect box, per the pediatrician.  Ha.)  She's not quite reading books, but she does a good job sounding out the words.  She can be sassy to John and I (sigh), but I suppose this is just part of her age.  We look forward to seeing what kindergarten has in store for her!
