Happy Halloween

Our little flower child. Carly didn't mind her costume at all. We took her to visit a few neighbors on Halloween, then we went home to wait for trick-or-treaters.

First Day of Day Care

I returned to work this week, so it was Carly's first day at Day Care on Tuesday. We really like the teachers in her class, and she seems happy there so far. I'm fortunate to have a great job and great partners and directors who are allowing me work very part time - 20 hours a week. I'm thrilled I'll be able to both work and spend lots of quality time with Carly.

Here she is all dressed and ready to go on Tuesday morning. I put a brand new box of Kleenex in the car that morning. For those who know me well, you'll be very impressed and shocked that I did not shed a single tear when I dropped her off! However, I bawled when we visited the day care the week before, and I didn't even have to leave her that day! I'm a crazy mom!

October Fun

Carly and I enjoyed our last few weeks of my maternity leave. Here are some pictures of various things we did in October.

Carly, John, and I went to the State Fair 2 weeks ago. It was a beautiful, comfortable day to be at the fair - a much better day than the first time we ventured to the fair. Temperatures in the 80s are much better than temperatures in the 90s!

Carly and I enjoying the shade and posing for the camera.

Carly with John's cousin Daryl. Daryl is the VP of Livestock at the fair.

This was one of the first times Carly rode in her stroller without the car seat. She did okay. She has pretty good head control, but she still slumps a lot in the stroller. I'm sure she'll fit better in it soon. She clearly got comfortable eventually. She actually slept most of the time we were there!

Thanks Auntie Laura for the cute shirt. (The Warrior was my high school mascot.)

Look, I can sit up - when Mom is holding my hand!

Carly in her bumbo. Check out all those rolls. I can't wait to find out how much she weighs at her 4 month appointment!

Flying on Mom's legs. She smiles and giggles while she's flying, and its great exercise for me.

Random shot, but cute smile.

This cute shot of Carly snoozing was taken during the Texas-OU game watching party at our house. Every year we have a crowd of folks over to our house to watch the game. Everyone was worried they would wake her up, but she was perfectly content and completely zonked out in her bouncy. In fact, she slept better in the bouncy than she did in her crib upstairs during the game. Even the loudest yelling from the crowd didn't bother her!

John's friends Shawn and Angela stayed with us for the weekend. Carly was all decked out in her TX-OU game watching gear. Thanks Ashley and Ryan for the cute outfit!

Grandparents are the Best!

Carly's Nanny and Pop came to visit last weekend. We had a great visit with them!

John and I went out for dinner, just the two of us, on Saturday night. It was so nice to go out and know that Carly was in good (actually, great) hands.

Carly has started saving for college. Any takers?

Many thanks to "Auntie" MJ for the cute onesie.

Calanni and Butz Family Visit

The Calanni and Butz families came to visit the last weekend in September. We had a full house (8 adults, 3 kids - whee!), but we had a great time. We took the Calannis to the Dallas Aquarium on Friday, and on Saturday we hung out at the house and did some swimming. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Aubrey Cate and Amy joined us at the Aquarium.

I love this smile.

Trent and Amber. We found out that it isn't very expensive to heat the pool. Good thing, because swimming in late September is quite chilly without a heater.

Some of Our Nieces

Carly and I went to Texarkana this week to meet our newest niece and Carly's cousin Riley. Riley is a doll!

Madison (2) and Carly (2 1/2 months)

Miss Riley. She had her heel pricked that day for the newborn screening they do in Texas

Riley is 2 weeks old in this picture. She's exactly 2 months younger than my chunky monkey. Julie also took a picture of all three Davis grandchildren, but it is on Julie's camera. It should be a funny picture.

Some Recent Pictures

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks. Carly is now 2 1/2 months old. Crazy!!!

She loves bathtime!!

And she loves the fish on her bouncer.

All dressed up for some Texas game watching. She's concentrating on her fist, trying to remember how to get it into her mouth.

Some tummy time. She's only smiling because she's fascinated by the TV.
