Baby Mayer #2

Baby Mayer #2 is due in September. We're excited! Here are a few sonogram pictures.

8 weeks. Just a blob with a heartbeat.

12 weeks, 4 days. You can see the legs on the left, bent at the knee. The arm is next to the head.

We're officially due September 17, which is my my niece Madison's birthday. We plan to find out what we're having, probably in late April. I think Carly is too young to really get this, so we haven't told her a whole lot. She says "yes" when we ask if she wants to be a big sister, so that's good enough. If she knew a baby was coming, she would probably ask me where it is every single day. We've got 6 months to go, so we'll hold off on telling her much more.

I have been more tired and sick with this baby than I was with Carly, but I have felt a million times better in the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately the first trimester landed squarely in my busy season at work, but I managed to survive. Fortunately the winter weather has been terrible, so Carly was content playing inside most of the time in January and February. Most work nights she would play in her kitchen in her room while I relaxed in her bed. She thought it was lots of fun to cover Mommy up and take care of Mommy.

The Park with AC and Friends

We met friends at an Oak Cliff park and duck pond last weekend. It was a beautiful day, and we loved enjoying the sunshine and friends.

Mardi Gras Oak Cliff Parade

In early February, Carly and I participated in the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras parade, organized by Amy.

The kiddos rode on the float this year. Amy and her neighbors put together a makeshift seat for each girl. The bar stools were zip tied to the float decoration supports, then we tied the girls to the chairs with scarves. Sounds safe, huh?

Carly had a ton of fun and even joined in on the bead throwing. Unfortunately she couldn't throw the beads more than 6 inches, which wasn't far enough to go outside the float. I spent a lot of time picking up the beads and giving them back to her to try again.

More Snow!

John was stuck in Midland for the first day of the snow, but he made it home Friday afternoon. Carly and her daddy built this cool snowman, complete with Nilla Wafers for eyes, nose, and mouth.

Carly's pool and sand toys were lots of fun in the snow! Thank goodness I had not gotten around to putting them away. Laziness pays off!

Snow!

I still can't believe how much snow fell in Dallas in February! On February 10, about 8 to 10 inches of snow fell out our house! I still had to work on the 10th, but Carly went to school and played in the snow there. She loved it!

Nannie and Pop were in town that week, so they enjoyed the snow with us.
